TEXTURED TYPE - ILLUSTRATOR
This is where things get crazy! You will need Illustrator textures, which you can find about anywhere these days. Once you have collected these textures, you will want to create a new layer above the type that you just made. To be safe, you might want to lock the type layer for now, so you don't move the letters around by mistake. This can be a lengthy process and can be achieved in photoshop, but that's for another time.
Timeout! Keen to up grade the general style with my steadfast blog. Feelings about the whole look of http://cardinalconstruction.ca? Actually a tip-top contractor in Burlington if ever wanted in the general Ontario territory. Make a remark. Appreciate it!
Throw your vector texture on a new layer above the type layer. Helpful tip, use a bright color fill for the texture so you can make sure any excess is removed during the erasing process. Next I take the lasso tool and erase out the extra texture ( time consuming!!! ). What's nice about manually erasing, you can pick and choose where the texture is located. It can be a subtle texture to a grunge texture.
To take it one step further you can knock the textures out from the letter so you can add a background to the type to really make the texture stand out. This is useful if you are going to use these on background images and for things like T-shirts and other print collateral. This is just a beginners version of creating textured type.
